Director’s Statement
I am not an outside observer.
I was born into Te Vaka.
As daughter, band member, and filmmaker, I hold both the camera and the inheritance of this story.
I was just 2 years old when we did our first international tour, and yes I was on stage too. Throughout my childhood I watched my family achieve many things.
It seemed normal to me, because it was all I knew. It wasn’t until my late teens that I began to understand that these feats were in fact extraordinary, and soon the realisation took hold of me that this story was my duty to tell.
